Trollbeads People’s Bead 2018 featuring designs by Patty Jansen!

Today Beadsaholic brings the news of the start of the voting for 2018 People’s Bead and featured artist Patty Jansen!

Trollbeads People’s submission for this year’s bead has ended and the first round of voting has begun. To see all the entries and place your vote visit People’s Bead 2018! There are tons of beautiful designs that have been submitted this year, so make some coffee as it will take some time to look at them all.

Today here on the blog I wanted to feature Patty Jansen, one of the many fantastic artist who have submitted in this year’s competition. Below you will see the submitted designs and the story behind them.

BACK ON TRACK

“I dream about : Getting life back on track. We all know periods in life when things do not go the way we want. It is like we go through a long dark tunnel, waiting for daylight at the end of it and then getting our life back on track. That inspired me to make a tunnel with a locomotive.”

CAIRN

“One of the things I dream about is : Hiking. When I am hiking, I often see piles of stones created by people… they are called Cairns. Cairns are trail-markers. So I decided to make this bead, because we all need or wish for trail-markers on our path of life.”

CREATIVITY

“I dream about : being a designer. I love to do creative things and one of them is designing. But before you start designing something, you must have inspiration which goes often with cracking brains. Tiny gear-wheels in the brain are working hard to bring your ideas one step closer to reality.”

DREAM BIG, START SMALL

“We all dream different dreams about : a trip around the world, getting a good job, winning the lottery. But we may not forget that all these dreams can only come true when we start small. For a world trip we must exchange our plane toy for a real ticket, to become a director we have to start as a trainee, to win the lottery we must buy a ticket first… But every dream can come true as long as you believe in yourself.”

FLEUR DE LYS

“I dream about : the beautiful country France. One of the symbols which is typically for France is the Fleur de Lys. Three Fleur de Lys are in the arms of France ( modern version 14th-15th century ) on an azure colored base.”

GLACIER

“I dream about : Mountains. Mountains and oceans are the most dangerous things in nature because they have both hidden secrets. To reach your goal, you have to push your limits… For me it means following the narrowest paths, crossing cascades and glaciers.”

LE COQ

“I dream about : the beautiful country France. Le Coq ( French for : The Rooster ), is a typical French symbol and stands for watchfulness and proud and represents the French Republic. Le Coq is often seen on memorials and it is also on the sport-clothing of the national sport-teams.”

LET FREEDOM RING

“Martin Luther King said “Let freedom ring”. So many people live in war or are discriminated for who they are. Beads bring people together, hopefully we can also solve the problems in the world together. I dream about : living all together in peace and freedom.”

MOVING FORWARD

“I dream about : Moving forward. We can’t change our past, but we can change our future. I think everybody goes through hard moments in life sometimes. A propeller is what make boats and planes move forward. A propeller represents ‘moving forward’ perfectly. “

OUTDOOR ADVENTURES

“I dream about : Hiking in the mountains. Mountains are huge and as a person you are so small, the rough landscape, nothing else than rocks and stones, snow and ice… Each time it takes my breath away. I have learnt that the best view comes after the hardest climb.”

PEACE

“I dream about : Peace for everyone in the world. The olive branch is the international symbol of peace. The olive branch stands for peace, reconciliation and hope. The olive tree grows slowly and needs rest. So there where you see many olive trees, there must be peace for a long time.”

TRAVEL THE WORLD

“I dream about : Travelling the world since I was a little girl. I love to see new countries and other places, meeting other people, trying the local food. All the memories will last forever. When I am old I would love to go through all the pictures of my journeys and live them again.”

WATERMELON TOURMALINE

“I am dreaming about : Exotic destinations. It’s not all about sun, sea and beach… I love the colorful markets with fruits and vegetables. Watermelon Tourmaline would represent the fruit and so these markets perfectly. The stone has also a positive effect on friendships and relationships.”

Over all, I think Patty has created some great designs, my favorites being Glacier, Travel the World, and Dream Big, Start Small! What are your favorites? I’d love to hear from you all. Did you enter the competition or have a favorite?

  1. Thank you soooooo much Paula… what can I say here… you make me blush and speechless. I have followed the rules Trollbeads made, worked hard and I added love in each of my designs. I can only hope that people see and feel it. Thank you so much.

  2. Thanks so much for letting us know that voting for the 2018 People’s Bead has started and show us Patty Jansen’s designs. She is very talented and submitted many great designs. My favorites are Creativity and Moving Forward, I also loved the concept behind Let Freedom Ring.

Before I start the voting process I’m curious about how it was compared to last year (which may have taken a whole pot of coffee!). Thanks 🙂

  3. I love the designs by Patty and voted for them. I think this is the strangest competition: the weirdest system of voting, so many copies of existing beads (by other brands), languages I can’t understand…. I vote to support people/designs I like, but not because it is fun.
