Today Beadsaholic brings a review of OHM Beads Chinese New Year Collection.

Happy Chinese New Year! 2021 is the year of the Ox and the year in your Chinese Zodiac sign is considered a lucky year for you. My youngest son is an Ox, so I was happy to add the new OHM Year of the Ox and Ox Ole to my collection alongside the Dog and Pig designs for my husband and myself. I also, have the Year of the horse glass for my oldest son, but would love to add a silver horse in a few years.

Asian culture is the most fascinating cultures in our world. I find it beautiful and full of kindness and peace. The folklore being some of my favorite stories of any culture. As I write this article many of you, my friends across Asia and around the world are gearing up for the days festivities, the celebration of a New Lunar Year. I will be celebrating with you at home. I hope you all stay safe and healthy. I wish you much luck in the year to come.

In celebration of the New Lunar Year, I will be kicking it off with two Chinese New Year themed reviews, the first being the new OHM Chinese New Year Collection!

OHM Year of the OX is a cute peaceful guy, who looks to be meditating in the sukhasana position. His yoga pants are rolled, he is wearing an open kimono and Mala beads. His eyes are closed, he is wearing a nose ring and his horns angle down, out and curl up on the ends. This bead measures approximately 12 mm high x 11.75 mm wide. Year of the Ox retails for $55 / €57.

OHM Ox Ole is made similar to the Lion Dance Bead, except this is an ox head. The mouth and nose ring are articulating. The bead has so much detailing front and back. It has a hole through the sides and top to bottom, this allows you to wear this bead several ways, including on the Ohm Ball Chain. This sterling silver bead measures approximately 11.40 mm high x 11.87 mm wide. Ox Ole retails for $75 / €78.

OHM The Red Lanterns is a stunning dangling bead! This resembles the traditional Asian red lantern with the shape and tassels dangling from the bottom. In the cage like design you will find a red with gold foil glass bead. The lantern dangles from a floral branch bail. This bead measures approximately 36.48 mm high x 13.61 mm wide. The Red Lanterns retails for $85 / €88.

OHM Mystic Knot is an infinity knot designs that is dangling from a tear drop shaped bail and has tassels dangling from the knot. The infinity knot is one of several knot symbols for luck. There is no beginning and no end, which represents a never-ending cycle “infinite”. The infinity knot symbolizes longevity, prosperity, triumph, love and health. This dangle measures approximately 38.59 mm high x 11.73 mm wide. Mystic Knot retails for $45 / €47.

OHM Exploding Bamboo is a dangling firecracker design. During the second century BC they used a type of dry bamboo that exploded when heated, this technique was used to ward off evil spirits. Since around the ninth century when gunpowder was created a new style firecracker was created, but still resembled and sounded like the old exploding bamboo. Today firecrackers are used in celebrations around the world. There are eight “Exploding Bamboo” dangling from a diamond shaped bail. This bead measures approximately 27.64 mm long x 8.11 mm wide. Exploding Bamboo retails for $60 / €62.

OHM Break Through is a beautiful red translucent barrel glass with purple iridescent criss cross lines and bits of gold foil, which makes this bead perfect for a CNY bracelet. This bead will run an average size of 15 mm high x 9 mm wide. Break Through retails for $45 / €47.

OHM Breeze Past is a beautiful red barrel glass bead, but when you take a closer look you will find hills and dips in a wave like pattern along the core and bubbles over the sections that dip. This creates a visually pleasant texture. This bead will run an average size of 15 mm high x 9 mm wide. Breeze Past retails for $45 / €47.

OHM Change Forward is a nice deep red glass barrel. It is smooth and just a beautiful tone of red. It reminds me of the color of blood and for this reason I’m sure I’ll order a second to use during Halloween. However, until then it will be nice to add to my red compositions for CNY and other themes. You will find that this is a standard size bead around 15 mm high x 9 mm wide. Change Forward retails for $45 / €47.

OHM Make Change is the latest to the Slim glass collection. This slim glass is red with berry like dimpling. It is the perfect match to the Strawberry glass bead with the exception that this glass is slimmer. This bead is an average size of 15 mm high x 7 mm wide. Make Change retails for $35 / €36.

OHM Cross Lines is such a fun square red glass bead with four white lines. I really love the size of the square beads and I’m so hoping OHM makes more colors. The color of this bead fits in well with the many red beads previously released. The average size of this bead is around 12 mm high x 8 mm wide. Cross Lines retail for $45 / €47.

Now for some inspiration. I’ve created a few bangles and one full bracelet to show how beautiful these beads play. The first two are made with just this release.

In the Year of the Ox composition, I went with all new beads along with Candy Crush which is the same shape and size as Cross Lines.

In this composition I’ve added in the Spiritbeads Endless a knot collection, which goes rather well with the Mystic Knot.
