OHM Beads October Preview Day and Planchette Review. |

Today Beadsaholic brings a preview of the October OHM Collection and a review of the new Planchette Bead.

For October”s release from OHM we see five new beautiful and quirky beads added to their bead line. In this line up there is Love Trap, Planchette, Here for the Boos, Bunyip and Mend-ish stopper. Check out the flyer below showing all new beads to be released by OHM on September 29, 2022.

Though, I may need to order the rest of this collection as they are all Halloween themed, and this is my favorite season of the year. I enjoy seeing all the Halloween collections and OHM always releases beads I adore in this theme. But, for today I do have the Planchette here to share with you all in a review. I loved this bead with all its mystic vibes and I think that it will fit perfectly into my witch theme. Though, I think I’ll also wear this on my wakening new age bracelet with beads that bring me peace and balance. So, as you will see in this review this bead is versatile in my collection and I will wear it all year.

Planchette is French for “little plank” and is usually heart shape. Though originally this little plank had caster which helped it move around as a writing tool. As a writing tool they were popular during the Victorian era and eventually evolved into what we know it as today, a mysterious pointing device used as a divination tool which are used with spirit boards, talking boards or as many know them as Ouiji Boards. Talking boards were first used at a spiritualist camp in Ohio, USA in 1886 as away to communicate with spirits. In 1890 the Ouiji Board was released as an innocent family board game by Elijah Bond and is still marketed today by Hasbro. There is a lot of controversial thought when it comes to Planchettes and spirit boards, Throughout the last hundred plus years both have become rather popular. Like all divination tools phenomenon, they have been proven in scientific studies to be an ideomotor response, which is an involuntary movement of the unconscious mind. Though some swear that it is a gateway connection to the dead and used in Sèance to communicate with spirits of those who have passed. Even over the last fifty years both have been used in horror movies, as boards that have gone wrong and opened a gateway straight into the demonic world, so no wonder Ouiji boards and Planchettes creep some people out and even trigger superstition. I was raised in the South-eastern part of the USA by superstitious Mother who truly believed that these boards and Planchettes could reach the dead and felt that you should steer clear of such devices and this is a common thought throughout this region. Though today they are popular divination tools, like pendulums that are innocent and used as ways to get answers from our subconscious mind.

Whether you believe in any of this or not, I think you will find that this bead is perfect for the Halloween season.

OHM Planchette is such a cute sterling silver bead in the traditional heart shape planchette with “hello”, “goodbye”, “yes” and “no” on one side with a sun, moon and star design and a vine like design. There is an opening like you would find on a real planchette that your bracelet will thread through, on the other side you will find a web and spider design with three little stars. This bead is available for preorder at many shops and will release and be available on the OHM website on September 29, 2022. The Planchette retails for $55 / €45.08.

When I found out there was to be a Planchette bead release, I had to order a small Ouiji Board for it! I found this cute Alice in Wonderland themed board on Etsy at Bethany Royston Art, she specializes in resin art and has created this cute board in different styles and colors. I love it so much, I have a second one coming to use in future photos of this bead. So, I say make this bead fun and get a board to go with it!

Now of course, this bead is perfect alone on a bracelet as you can see here, which I’m sure I’ll wear it this way a lot or as a necklace. but, you will find in the following inspirational photos that it goes so well with other beads, too.

Now for some fun! I’d love to know which bracelet is your favorite?!

In this bracelet I went with a mix of themes, with spiritual witchcraft as you can see with OHM Dirty Magic, OHM Mandrake, OHM Luna, OHM Planchette, then to play on the spiritual aspect I added in the OHM Bead mail meditating monkey, OHM Mortar and Pestle, OHM Merkaba 2.0, OHM Siberian Sakura, Moress Gemstone moon, and of course, I needed to add some PHYA gemstones, I finished this TPOA bracelet off with the TPOA Messenger Lock (exclusive at Swiss Flower & Gift).

In this composition I went for a more simple design with OHM Purple Haze and OHM Dreamscape with the OHM Planchette on a OHM Dirty Twisted Bangle.

With this bracelet I embraced a witches theme for the season with OHM Dirty Magic, OHM Luna, OHM Planchette, OHM Heart of the Woods, OHM Gibbous, OHM Magic Frog, OHM Mandrake, OHM Hock, OHM Quill, OHM Shroom, mixed with magical PHYA Gemstones, Redbalifrog Book of Spells on a TPOA bracelet and finished off with TPOA Bintang Lock.

In this simply composition I went with all OHM Glass, OHM Luna, OHM Dirty Magic, OHM Shroom, OHM Mandrake, OHM Planchette on my favorite TOPA Bracelet again with the Bintang lock.

Though I find this bracelet just as magical, I went for a more peaceful balance with OHM Beadmail from August 2021, OHM Luna, OHM Motar and Pestle, OHM Life Force, OHM Mandrake, OHM Stay Grounded, and OHM Planchette mixed with beautiful PHYA Labradorite and Tourmalated Quartz, 2GemzBeads Moonstone carved rose, TPOA Grey Chalcedony, tourmalated Quartz, TPOA Mandela with labradorite and finished off with the labradorite Messenger Lock from TPOA ( an exclusive at Swiss Flower & Gift ).
