Snow Ice Cream is simple to make. It’s just three added ingredients. In a bowl combine 1 cup of evaporated milk, 1 cup of cane sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla and a large bowl of snow! Mix milk, sugar and vanilla together, then fold into the fresh snow. Enjoy! Be sure that the snow you use is freshly caught.

I look forward to reading all your comments.

Paula

  1. My childhood was spent in the countryside. There was always a lot of snow in winter! In our spacious courtyard, the snow was cleared and piled in the center, it turned out to be a huge mountain in which we made a fortress, built slides, made snowmen. We ate snow just like that, without a prescription)) And gnawed transparent clear icicles! There were snow-covered slopes at the edge of the village. All the children of the village and parents, of toddlers, teenagers, young people, on fine days, went out on the slopes and went sledding and ice sledges. It was a lot of fun!

    • I am from eastern Pennsylvania, so I have tons of snowy memories!
One year, we had an unusually deep snowfall, and we were able to dig snow houses in the back yard. Complete with a bench seat, also snow.
Another year, we were late bringing the motor boat home from the lake. I remember Daddy saying to the car, who was struggling up a snowy country road “come on, Suzy, if I downshift now, we will be all over the road!” Suzy made it up the hill. 🙂
We lived on a hill in our small town. One night, my mother could not get Suzy back up the hill to our house, so she parked her down the hill at a neighbor’s house. When Daddy got home, I was fussing about Suzy not being at our house. He finally went down, brought her home by a different route, and parked her where she belonged. About a half hour later, another car skated down the hill and crashed into the exact spot where Suzy had been parked.
      Thanks for the memories!!

  4. I don’t have snow memories. Snow doesn’t exist in my country. I’d like to travel to NY in Christmas to have the experience of a snowny Christmas.

  5. We don’t have much snow where I live now, but there is much more snow in the area where I lived as a child. I loved Sledging with other kids in a area in the wood not far away from home! Unfortunately this place doesn’t exist anymore, because houses were built there…

  6. Do you know I’ve never gone skiing? I’m really scared !! But walks with friends and valley shots of snow, slips and fun was not lacking … laughter, all wet and thoughtless.
    We really enjoyed it
In the cold period I like to drink a good cup of hot chocolate … then milk and chocolate powder (I like it bitter) … mix on the fire in a saucepan until it becomes nice thick

  7. Oh Paula! That recipe!! And Lol, fresh snow!🤪
I am Canadian and we know snow! Our favourite way to eat it is to pack it down tight and drizzle warm maple syrup on it, hot from the boilers in the sugar shack! You then twirl a popsicle stick or spoon and basically make maple taffy. So so good! One of my best but worst snow memories is from when I was about six years old. We drove to our cottage in the middle of no where quite late at night. It was so dark and so cold, very deserted, and in a bad snow storm. We were about 3 miles away and there was the steepest hill and my father was too worried to attempt driving down the unplowed or salted hill, lest we crash the car. So we had to carry our stuff and walk in the 3 miles in the dark, cold night. It was hard for a little girl but we just did what we had to and no whining allowed. My big brother was with me (much older, 18 years older) so I was happy. We made it, and dad had to go back for the car in the morning!

  8. Im from NJ and I’m old enough to remember “snow days” when the storms were bad. We’d get to stay at home and put on our huge puffy snowsuits (think A Christmas Story) and then go outside and play in the huge snow mounds created by the plows and make snow forts. Snow today is beautiful to look at from the warmth of my cozy living room curled up with a blanket and a hot cup of cocoa /herb tea / coffee. All snuggled in and smiling

They played with us and we had a wonderful time- as I got older I played with friends and my parents didn’t join so those early memories are so special! ❤

  12. I love snow! As kids we had so much snow that we built an igloo type fort in the parking lot across from our house in the huge snow drifts, Wish it snowed like that still in the East 😦 I used to love eating ice cycles! haha

  13. When we were kids, there used to be an area where the whole neighborhood gathered during the snowy season. We’d take our sleighs 🛷 and go down the hills until we’d turn the snow into ice. I was terrified, but I would not stop… I would always share the sleigh with my brother… and that was fine by me… until I hit a log and ended up full face into the snow. That was probably the last time I went sleighing on that hill… but now that I think of it… it must have been such a funny image for everyone else out there that day ❄️🤦🏻‍♀️😅

  14. Living in New England snow is a part of every winter for us! My fondest memories are of when my children were young and they would pray for school to be cancelled and have a “snow day” As a nurse I wasn’t always able to take a “snow day” with them. But when I did . It always had a pot of chili on the stove, lots of hot chocolate, a fire going in the fireplace and piles of wet winter clothing, red cheeks and wet noses from hours of playing in the snow! Those were the best of times and I didn’t even know it ❤️

  18. I remember when I was a child and we woke up to over 6ft of snow and we couldn’t get out of the front door. Luckily the local farmer dug us and our surrounding neighbours out and provided us with milk from the dairy and some groceries until the roads were passable.

  19. My favourite memory is from when we had an unusually heavy snowfall here. My parents live just a few roads away. My husband and I decided to take an evening walk there, gathering a couple of giant snowballs along the way. When we arrived at my parents’, we were able to make a snowman from the snow between our houses. (Paula- I’m sorry if I’ve accidently posted this twice- I was having some trouble posting!)

  21. How much joy and happiness comes from the winter holidays! New Year and Christmas bring long-awaited rest, festive fun, pleasant surprises, varied entertainment and vivid impressions.
Despite the cold, I remember how in childhood they built fortress walls out of snow and played snowballs, sculpt different snow figures, build ice slides and roll from them on ice and sleds, fill the ice rink and skate, and skis …
And after returning home, dry ice pants and mittens and drink warm tea with jam….mmmm

  22. I live in a snowy region. This sounds weird but my sister’s and I would collect the biggest icicles we could find and bring them in the house. We would put them in the toilet and watch them melt lol. Now I do it with my kids lol. Also we loved sledding down the hill we had across the street!

  23. That’s awesome Paula! My first time hearing about snow ice cream, I think it’s very clever. My fav snow memory was probably me making snow angels in the snow and sitting in the car, watching the snow fall and also decorated houses along the way. It was almost like real magic.

  24. I also currently live in South Carolina, so I don’t get to see snow very often. I do have fond memories of snow though! As a kid all the way through high school we used to take a ski trip once a year. We would rent out a cabin and get to spend quality time together. After a fun/hard day in the slopes we would come back to the warm cabin and drink hot chocolate or even take a trip to the indoor swimming pool to relax our muscles. I don’t have any snow recipes, but I do love snow cones!!!

Beautiful drifts, perfect for making snow angels and snowmen, the girls made horses too all in snow😁 At night it sometimes looks like diamonds have been sprinkled over the snow, so twinkly and sparkly❄️

  31. Thanks so much for the chance. The best memory I have on the snow is when I was about 10 years old and I wanted to use the bobsleight to go down the hill next to my house. I was so stubborn that I climbed the whole hill and once I got to the top I positioned the Bobsleight ready to go… Unfortunately the snow was so high that in fact the Bob didn’t slide 😅

  36. Love this one, Paula!! One of my fav snow memories is building a snowman and making snow angels for the very first time with my boy/girl twins last winter, when they were two years old. Since we live in Canada, we get a lot of snow, and even though I’m not a huge fan of winter and all the cold and wet it has to bring, my kids love it – so I better bundle up and suck it up 🤗🤣🥰.

  37. Oh the old days! I’m in Delaware, we do t (luckily) get as much snow as when I was s child. My grandparents had an 83 acre farm in Pennsylvania. I was there more than in Delaware. Huge snowfalls meant sledding. Popop would hook a huge log diagonally behind the tractor to pack and make a runway. No exaggeration it was at least 3/4 loud, maybe more. Oh what fun it was to glide down that hill. Fast I might add!! Only setback was the hike back to the beginning, which started in the top floor of the barn. Hours were spent sledding that hill, I can close my eyes and remember it vividly. Almost as if I were sledding right now!!! Tha k you for bringing this joyous moment in time back to me!!!!!

We have blinded the famous statue of Venus de Milo. It was very fun, admiring her from the window. Although she quickly melted, but still this happy moment was remembered forever

I went over when I was 9 & came back 10 , not with my family but a group of other children and a teacher/ guardian. Every day we had long snowy walks plus an hour on the balcony in loungers to breathe in the fresh snowy air. One day we were taken to a peak to watch the skiers & to this day I remember one particular gentleman, obviously learning who although going slowly had lost control of his legs so they were getting wider & wider apart. Next thing his trousers split & he was displaying his underwear hence one group of hysterical kids enjoying the snow & all that came with it …
